Car not showing text messages

I have an iPhone 12 Pro Max I drive a Nissan Rogue I get my phone calls while in my car with Bluetooth on but I can not receive my text messages while driving. My old android phone had no problem sending my text messages and then the car once you answer it would read aloud can someone please help me. I played with my car settings and yes my Bluetooth is connected to my car. I went under settings on my phone to make sure I was not missing anything but I got nothing. Thank you.
