Quicktime VHS to Digital

I have been using Quicktime to convert VHS family videos to digital using 'all in one' USB 2.0 video capture. I used my old VCR with no problems to do multiple tapes.

All of the sudden the audio has stopped working. It is not off, in fact when you turn it up there is some weird feedback/ screeching that comes through. This happens both when I try video and just audio. I haven't made any changes so I don't know why this started happening.

I have done multiple basic troubleshooting steps such as restarting and updating my computer, making sure all of my connections are good etc. I even plugged the VRC into a TV to make sure it was in fact my computer and I have tried multiple tapes including ones that previously worked.

This is clearly just a Quicktime issue but I haven't been able to find anything helpful on the internet so far.
