How can I block certain numbers from sending me messages ? For instance, I got a msg from : 1 410 *** 006. I did not opened it and promptly blocked it. A week later I got a msg from : 1 410 *** 007...I applied the same treatment.

Guess what, 🧐, I just got a msg from : 1 410 *** 008. I will block it as well without opening it.

So !, what can I do-or more so-, what can you do about it ? Should I sit patiently, awaiting for 1 410 *** 009 to ring me ? AT&T told me they do not have any ways to help me.

I know this could be filed under : "George's small annoying problems", but this is not what I signed for.

Please help, and thank you in advance.

First of all you are not alone. The problem goes beyond text messages. There are robo-callers and scammers constantly pounding millions of people over the whole world. Much of the time the numbers are spoofed, meaning the calls or messages are not actually coming from that number. Organized crime around the world is trying to exploit people. They continue to do so because so many people fall for their tricks and end up being scammed. Hundreds of millions of dollars a year are lost to scammers. So it is profitable and costs the scammers next to nothing to pursue the attacks. Now and then the gangs are caught but more just spring up to replace them.

In the USA there is a new law that forces the Telco's to setup technology to alert you to spoofed numbers. It's called SHAKEN/STIR and it's still in the works. It should help but it won't stop the incoming calls. Most telco's have an app you can install that will help tell you if an incoming call is SPAM, Fraud, Spoofed, etc. The telco may provide robocall alert service.

On an iPhone: This might help you deal with it.
