Disk space full - Macintosh HD has 455GB of free space

Why do I keep getting "Disk space full" when I try uploading photos to my iMac, or if I try to do things on certain programs, but my disk isn't even close to full. My Macintosh HD says I have 455GB of available space. I am using Mac OS BigSur (See attached photos). Thanks

iMac, OS X 10.11

Hi npartheniou,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities.

First, try to run First Aid and see if this solves the issue: How to repair a Mac disk with Disk Utility - Apple Support. If the error is still shown, try booting into Safe Mode and test: Start up your Mac in safe mode - Apple Support.

Also, if you have any anti-virus, anti-malware, or "cleaning" software, delete them according to the developer's instructions.
