Audio and motion issues with iOS 14.6 on 2 different phones

After installing iOS 14.6, my IPhone 11 Pro began to drop calls and skip and speed up songs when the phone moved ( e.g. “shake” during walking). When the problems persisted after a reset/restore and a reset/clean reinstall of apps, I upgraded to an iPhone 12 Pro, assuming it was a hardware problem. Today while hiking I was able to make calls successfully, but music audio was still unstable — randomly turned off, skipped ahead and back. And Siri randomly came on as well. Bug or feature?

Also what happened to the function “shake to shuffle?” It’s disappearance seems correlated with the audio problems. (But of course correlation isn’t causation.)

The problem ares are:

  1. With music, an abrupt loss of audio or skipping of songs while moving (hiking)
  2. With phone, abrupt loss of phone calls while moving (this morning, walking around the kitchen)
  3. With phone, Siri suddenly turning on

In every instance I was wearing headphones.

Initial problems were with my iPhone 11 Pro. Problems persist with my iPhone 12 Pro, which suggest a software problem related to movement.
