I have this same issue. None of my messages are coming through on my desktop. My desktop shut down on me and when I was able to bring it back up it had wiped out all my messsages (they are still on my iPhone, macbook and iPad). If I initiate a message from my desktop then it comes in on ALL devices. But other messages that come to me from outside (dr. appts etc) do not come to the desktop.
I followed the instructions above. However, messages on my mac appeared to upload to cloud, but the messages did not sync to my other devices. I waited a few hours, but all devices have claimed to finish the syncing process.
On the devices:
Go to Settings.
Tap [your name].
Tap iCloud.
Turn off Messages.
Wait a couple of minutes, then turn Messages on.
On computers:
Open Messages.
In the menu bar, choose Messages > Preferences.
Click iMessage.
Uncheck the checkbox next to Enable Messages in iCloud.
Wait a couple of minutes, then check the checkbox next to Enable Messages in iCloud.
Does it make a difference if a message thread was accidentally deleted on my iPhone, but not on my Mac. Attempting to restore the deleted thread on my Iphone. It still appears on my Mac message thread.
I have a similar question that I can't find the answer for on here. Perhaps someone can help? My message program has stopped syncing to iCloud, but not only that, the option has disappeared.
So, I click on --> Settings --> Apple ID --> iCloud to show 'Apps on this Mac using iCloud' and Messages has disappeared as an option to tick or untick.
It shows up as being stored on the iCloud Drive, but not as using iCloud.
In the last two days, all my messages disappeared on my desktop (but are still available on my laptop and iPhone) and, as I said, I can't connect Messages with iCloud. It does allow me to sign in and out of my Apple ID but the previous option on the iMessage page, to sync with iCloud, has completely disappeared.
@billyum58, I had it fixed by rebooting the Mac. I called support and they instructed me to reboot pressing shift and logging to my account to check that the account was right. It showed no error so i rebooted again and it’s worked ever after. I’d suggest you try that and if that doesn’t work, you call apple’s support.
