Power Mac G4 booting problem

Hi,

I have a graphite powermac g4, 350mhz with 1.19 gb of ram. It works fine. The only problem is that it doesn't give any video to my display until it's fully powered up. When press the option key after hearing the startup chime I think it goes into the boot manager. I just can't see anything. I've seen quite a lot of questions about the computer not showing a screen at all. This is not the case here! The screen works fine when it's at the desktop. Just not when I'm anywhere else.

Kind regards Patrick

I've heard that some aftermarket video cards can give the delayed desktop. If they require special software, those have to load before the image appears.

To see if that is the issue, do a safe boot, holding s (only) when you hear the chime; keep holding until you have a useable desktop or an advisory that the computer ins in safe mode. Itis is video drivers, they wil ot load in safe boot. Might tell us something.
