CarPlay stopped working ios 14.6

Tried all the tips, Siri, checking restrictions, etc. Cannot get it to connect even after deleting my iPhone and re-selecting my Honda 2018 CR-V in settings to connect to my my iPhone. So, while the iPhone recognizes my Honda, the Honda CarPlay does not recognize that it is plugged in to the proper USB port.

Problem solved: Reboot Honda Infotainment system. NOTE: this will not loose any of your Car settings (key id's, seat memory positions, etc.).

  1. Press and hold the power button on the Infotainment panel for 10 seconds.
  2. Screen will display, "Do you wan to Reboot?" Touch "YES"
  3. Screen goes black, then in 10-30 seconds system comes back on line.
  4. Connected my phone and all was well, again.

If that had not worked, Honda suggested doing a a Factory System Reset, but since this erases all of your personal settings, you need to make a list of them before doing the following: on the Infotainment screen__ Home>Settings>scroll down to Factory System Reset. If after doing this and redoing your personal settings, CarPlay still not loading, you would need to go to the dealer for a diagnostic check. But, since their first suggestion worked, I did not have to go this route.

I hope this helps any other Honda owners that experience CarPlay Not Loading problems.

Hi NickCampHill,

We understand you're having trouble connecting with CarPlay. Great work troubleshooting so far. It looks like you've covered most of the steps in the article If you need help with CarPlay. Have you tried another USB cable? If you haven't already, restart your iPhone to see if anything changes.

You also want to be sure CarPlay isn't restricted in your settings. To check, go to Settings > Screen Time > Content & Privacy Restrictions > Allowed Apps, and make sure that CarPlay is enabled.

Contact your car's manufacturer to ensure it's running the latest firmware and check it's firmware compatibility with your device and iOS version.

LeAnne, thanks for the reply, but I have already tried each of your suggestions multiple times. I am going to make an appointment with the tech specialist at my Honda dealership. But I don’t have much hope. Based on previous threads concerning CarPlay’s erratic performance, my working assumption is that this id Apple’s iOS not being thoroughly tested for backward compatibility. But I will post if Honda helps. The CarPlay feature was a big part of my car buying decision. Very disappointing.
