Epson TX550W multifunction printer and scanner

I have had this problem since moving from Asus laptop using Windows to iMac Big Sur and it is frustrating that I can't use the scanner function anymore on my computer. The printer functions works fine. It is connected using WiFi. I have recently installed an SSD external drive and if possible would like to solve this annoying issue. I have reinstalled the Epson software and drivers on SSD drive with no solution in sight.

The error message I am getting is "Failed to open connection to the device (-21345).

I would appreciate some assistance to get this issue resolved.

Thank you in advance.

I have two suggestions for you:

1 - go to the System/Printers & Scanners preference pane, Control (right) - click on your printer and select Reset Printing System from the contextual menu. Then add the printer back and see if it can be scanned with its own software or Preview or Image Capture.

2 - download and run the free, demo version of VueScan. It supports most every scanner out there. I find it more powerful than the software that came with my scanners. A one time purchase qualifies you for updates for life.

Please use the pre-installed app ImageCapture on your Mac to Scan. If you haven't used it please click Scan images in Image Capture on Mac. You will either find IC on your Dock or in the Applications - Utilities - Image Capture or you can launch it from Spotlight (the magnifying glass icon in the upper right of the display) and type in Image Capture.
