FCP 10.5.3 unresponsive

Hi,

Since upgrading to FCP 10.5.3 I keep getting the endless spinning ball and FCP becomes unresponsive. I have to force quit.

I'm running FCP on a Mac mini M1 with 16 GB RAM and Big Sur 11.4. Didn't have this problem on the earlier FCP versions.

The EtreCheck report says no major issues found, minor issue is FCP has heavy CPU usage, which I would think is normal?

I reset FCP Preferences, it seemed good for a while then starting freezing up again.

Has anyone else experienced this problem? What should I do?

Thanks for any help you can share :)

Richard

Hi Luis,

I believe that's the Time Machine drive that's only 2 TB, and I've turned that off any way. The external drive where I keep source files and the FCP library is 4 TB with 2.5 TB available.

I've uninstalled Chrome and all its daemons. I uninstalled FxFactory as well. I rebooted and downloaded and installed the latest FxFactory again (I need to use their plugins).

Just now I pasted an audio clip on the timeline, changed my mind and tried to remove it from the timeline and got the spinning ball again.

It's hung... sigh.
