What is the site you are referring to? Without providing it, bear in mind that that seems like a scam, if you are being prompted to entering your Serial Number, though a full assumption on my part. So, here is the info for contact Apple.

Apple Support Contact Info:

• Contact Us - Choose Locations
• U.S.A.: (800)MY-APPLE
• Proceed from there as necessary

Note: Phone calls are taking a bit to go through at the moment, due to lots of calls. And that makes sense, because with the Coronavirus Pandemic going around, many are at home at the moment, with much time on their hands to contact Apple. So, just stay on the line, and you will get through :)

Have you, by chance, had a repair on that device? The logic board? If that is the case, then a different serial number would be normal and if the tech did not register that with Apple, it would be the explanation.

If not, call Apple.
