Is there anyway to get my contacts from an iphone that won't charge and wont turn on. I bought a refurbished iphone and put the sim card in but my contacts did not transfer. It is an iphone 7.

That would depend on how you were syncing/getting contacts on the phone in the first place.

• If you were syncing them through an email account, you would have to turn contacts on in the mail settings for that account.
• If you were including contacts in a backup, then you would have to restore a backup to get them on the phone. If you don’t have backup, then this will not be an option.
• If you were syncing them from your computer, then you would have to sync them back again from the computer.
• If you were syncing contacts using iCloud, then you would have to enable that again in the settings. Settings>Your Name>iCloud>Apps using iCloud>Contacts>On.

Only you know what you were doing, so you have to decide which way will work for you.

That is because the iPhone does not write to the SIM. Did he not create any backups of the iPhone? If not, he has found the difficult result of not backing up a device. The same would happen with a computer.

As long as your husband signed into the new phone using the same Apple ID, he should go to Settings and try this:

At the top of the settings page tap Settings > His Name, iCloud, etc

Then Tap iCloud

Are Contacts turned on? If yes and the contacts didn't download from the cloud, he wasn't syncing them with the cloud

If no, turn it on and if he did sync with iCloud, the contacts would download.

Otherwise, as Chris correctly pointed out, if your husband didn't backup his previous iPhone, he is now learning why not doing so can be a painful mistake.
