Preview displays pdf in color instead of black and white

I scanned pdfs from a book using my iPhone. The original images were black and white and have now turned to different colors (shades of purple, green, red and blue.) Any idea what happened and how to fix it?

The office professionals work on PCs, and send me marked up PDFs, anything that has been highlighted or marked up at a 25% opacity shows up on my IOS devices at 100% opacity. Why do cropped pdfs falsely display in iOS16.6 on my iPhone13ProMax? The indicated pdfs being displayed in iOS 16.6 Apple Books on my iPhone 13ProMax are being wrongly displayed. If I break up a pdf into pages for one final one pdf, why does Apple Books display as the original long "Save As PDF" from Safari? The original save as pdf is a long galley-like pdf. I run this long save as pdf through PDFCutter. app which can make a multi-page pdf from the original one galley. MacOS13.5.1 displays the multipage final pdf w correct dimensions. Why can't iOS on my iPhone13ProMax? My 11" iPad Pro displays correctly, but not the iPhone.

Preview redaction tool bug After using the preview app to convert an image into a pdf using the redaction tool doesn't properly work on that pdf. In addition to redacted areas, other not selected areas of the document are redacted as well. When using another method to convert the image to a pdf, the redaction tool works without problems.

Use the Print to black and white option from your print command. If it isn't supported, then you need a printer that supports it.

On a Mac use Preview to Export from the File menu and use a Black and White Quartz filter.
