broken lcd screen with no other damage or signs of "accident"
I purchased and MBP 13 inch in April. I opened and it closed it and the next time I opened it there was a vertical thick line on the right-hand side of my screen. I called apple support and they took me through series of downloads etc. Nothing worked. My next step was to take it to the apple store in downtown Los Gatos. Big mistake as they are never helpful. Their so-called geniuses were no help and told me it was an accident and that I would have to pay 549 dollars to get it fixed. I just got it two months ago, never dropped it, or applied pressure or all the other nonsense they told me I may have done. My question for this forum is, If there is a standard level of care for opening and closing your computer. It's not my first apple computer rather probably my sixth or seventh. I used the same level of care with this one as well. I am furious and can not believe that no one will fix this for me without charge. This is clearly a manufacturing defect that is covered under the general warranty since it has only been two months since purchase. I found many other posts saying that they literally just opened and closed their computer and the same thing happened. I ask, where is apple's responsibility and customer service. I have always been a loyal customer and never had a problem with apple. This is ridiculous!! I was spoken to in the store as if I was lying. Very offensive. If opening and closing your computer constitutes an accident then I really don't know what to say other than I will never purchase anything from apple again. As you all probably know these products range in the thousand-plus range. I was told that the lines are there due to an accident, What accident? Apple can not continue this level of customer service. I plan on escalating this as I feel I have wrongly been accused of "accidentally " breaking my screen. I would know that if it had occurred. I can understand some people may want to get a freebie but for all the geniuses out there, I am not one of those people. I would appreciate any feedback or sharing of similar experiences.
