Interestingly enough, as I was texting on my MacBook Pro, I hit some wrong keys and it bolded my text. Which is something I've wanted to do for a very long time. Does anyone know what keys would highlight and bold the text? Wish I knew what keys I accidentally hit...

Depending on which macOS version your Mac has, 'newer features' may have been added with
updates or upgrades; added to Catalina 10.15.7 and more recently, evolved Big Sur update steps.
On iPad and iPhones, there are two places to input text, (subject line) you can make Bold text there.
Even in older versions of iOS; (while Mac OS was much simpler; unable to perform) fancy dog tricks
had been empowered on iOS; not macOS, until more recently.
This doesn't exactly show/tell the macOS factors; if mac Messages has similar text field, it may work.

Had seen this thread, & did searches with my Mac [10.11.6/Firefox.] Messages aren't 'Bold' in here.
Most online results tell/show iMessage text ideas, not older Mac Messages!
