password on email account requested, when I click on the link, it takes me to the ‘general’ tab in settings

Both my iPad and iPhone keep asking me for my password on one of my email accounts. When I click on the link, it takes me to the ‘general’ tab in settings, and I can find no area there where that account is listed. Everything works fine, so I don’t know what the problem is. Any ideas? This has been going on for months.

Many email providers, including Microsoft, have switched to using App Specific Passwords when using anything other than their own Mail App. In such cases, you will need to generate a unique password for your iPad email account - that will differ from your normal Account Password.


AOL, Yahoo, Google, Microsoft all use App Specific Passwords when using anything other than their own email client Apps.


If you need to generate an App Specific Password, you’ll need to log-in to your Mail Providers account management webpage - using a web browser - and generate the Password from the appropriate account security page.
