Keyboard on Apple Watch

When my watch says to finish entering text on my iOS device, there should be a keyboard that pops up on my phone. I don’t have a keyboard that pops up and if it should pop up, what am I doing wrong?

iPhone 12 Pro Max, iOS 14

OK. open the Watch app on your iPhone and see if you have a device synced.

You're not dumb! Tech can be hard.

The simplest way is to ask Siri: 'Open my watch app'.
