After Restart iPhone 7 Plus - apps are still open

Hi

ive had issues with my apps freezing lately so I decided to force restart holding power button and volume down untill I see Apple symbol appear . Once it booted back up I log in and I double clicked the home button only to see my apps still open in the background . Shouldn't they have closed ?? Also can I clean cache or something like that ? I have heaps of memory and I can't see why my apps keep freezing half way during use.

iPhone 7 Plus, iOS 14

Hello Mariangelz80,

Thank you for posting in Apple Support communities. We understand that you are having issues with your apps freezing, and restarting doesn't fix the issue. We would love to help you with this.

When apps are frozen restarting can help but it isn't recommended to close open apps that are running in the back ground.

To close apps that are open or frozen you should double click the home button and swipe up on each app that shows, this will indeed close the app. Learn more here: Close an app on your iPhone or iPod touch

This resource also includes steps on what to do for your particular situation: If an app on your iPhone or iPad stops responding, closes unexpectedly, or won’t open

Thank you for allowing us to support you.

Have an awesome and productive day!

Mariangelz80,

Thank you for getting back to us. To close open apps on your iPhone you would follow those steps that were included in the previous resources because restarting the device will not close open apps, if you don't think that apps should be closed that way you should submit feedback to Apple here: Product Feedback

Also if you continue to experience issues, you may need to contact Apple Support

Cheers!

Thanks for your response .

I understand what you mentioned about but I don't think it's right that we have to close apps ourselves before resetting the phone so those apps are not open in the background when the phone re boots . When the phone freezes obviously I can't do that and so I just force restart hoping everything shuts down like it should (just like a pc does ) but on restarting there all still

in the background and I don't understand why
