Powering off/disconnecting USB Audio Interface causes bluetooth and USB devices to become unmounted

Piggybacking off someone's question because I don't believe it was solved in the previous thread:

When I turn off or unplug my USB Audio Interface all bluetooth and USB devices are unmounted. This means that I lose the ability to use the keyboard and mouse and have to force reboot by holding down the power button.

My audio interface is bus powered and has a power switch. Turning it off and unplugging it has the same result. It is also attached directly into the computer, without the use of a usb hub. Has been happening for almost a year since I first got it. I've tested it with my 2014 Macbook Pro Retina but it only happens with my iMac.

Running OS 10.15.6

iMac is: Retina 4K, 21.5-inch, 2017

Any insight or solutions would be much appreciated.
