MacBook Air NOT ACCEPTING PASSWORD

Tried to transfer files from my MacBook Air (2019) to my new MacBook Pro (2020) as I want to sell my MacBook Air. Got a failed authentication error message then tried to reset SMC as I read on one of the discussions here that's what I needed to do, in the process I ended up not being able to log back into my MacBook Air with my password. No error message popping up, just won't accept my password. Please help!

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 11.4

Hi there sein113,

Thanks for your post to Apple Support Communities. If you have issues with logging in to your MacBook Air, you may need to walk through the process of resetting your information. Start with the steps outlined here:

If you forgot your Mac login password

If you have an alternate device to use, and your MacBook Air login was also your Apple ID username and password, you can test logging in to the Apple ID website:

Manage your Apple ID

If you still aren't able to log in and reset your MacBook Air password, use the steps in this article:

If you can't reset your Mac login password

Best regards.
