Legit "compromised password" alert? The message text is different

Hi,

On my Ipad, I received an alert about a compromised password. I saw that others here report similar alerts, but their alters were phrased as "This password has appeared in a data leak ...". Mine says: "The password for your "[NAME OF WEBSITE]" account has appeared in a data leak". Therefore I was worried that this message was not from Apple but might be malware.

Thanks for any help clearing this up.

Assuming that your iPad is running iPadOS14, the Notification is completely legitimate - and has been generated by your iPad. Your iPad automatically monitors credentials stored in your keychain - and if your credentials are identified as having been included in a data leak/compromise, you will see this alert with an explanation.
