ASUS Monitor will not re-sync to iMac after sleep

My ASUS VP28CQG monitor goes to sleep (orange led) when my iMac goes to sleep. However, when I wake the iMac the ASUS wakes but does NOT see a signal from the iMac.

If I turn off the ASUS before putting the iMac to sleep, then turn on the ASUS before waking the iMac, all works fine. I just don't think turning off the ASUS every night is a good plan.

Does anyone know a setting to try on the ASUS (or the iMac)???

iMac 27″, macOS 11.2

Could be.

I am going to try CTRL-SHIFT-EJECT tonight to see if that approach works.

Disable sleep - power savings are negligible on Macs with SSDs. Check “Prevent…” in Energy Preferences
Select when to turn monitor off automatically, also in Energy Preferences
The two settings are not related, work independently
