Distance measurement on the health app inaccurate

I have been walking the exact same path for over two months. However, generally two mornings a week my step count is close to 1800 deficient. I have my IPhone in the pocket of the same pants I wear daily. I recently reset my iPhone with no change in this issue. What is up here? I’d like realistic numbers on a consistent basis.

The information given by you is insufficient to find the exact reason.

Have you checked the pace being used?

Are you using any other apps in sync with the Apple Health app?

Are you walking at different times? (Morning, evening, Afternoon), etc This could be affected by the traffic on the road.

Are you referring to Average steps or comparing the previous day to another day?

Have you seen day-to-day variations in the step count?

What difference would the pace matter if we are talking about distance?

I am using the Apple Music app at the same time.

I walk at the same time daily at around 5:30am.

since I walk the exact same path, I am referring to comparing one day to the next.

I see variations in the step count generally 2days a week by 1800 steps lower.

thanks for the quick response.
