USB devices disconnect after sleep, have to unplug/replug every single time

Hello,

This pertains to pretty much all USB devices connected to my M1 MacBook Air, but in particularly is my Motu M4 audio interface and a USB external SSD. These devices are connected to the MacBook Air with a USBC to USB cable. Every time the computer goes to sleep I and I wake it up, my audio device and the SSD are no longer recognized. I get hard drive eject warnings and I have no audio. I have to physically unplug and replug the devices in order for the computer to recognize them again. This is super frustrating. Is there a fix?

MacBook Air (2020 or later)
