iPad Air and free AirPods

Hi I was just wondering since I am a student and have recently bought an iPad Air with a key board and pencil, I thought that I could of qualified for the free pair of air pods that are offered if you are a student. I thought that they were attached with the ipad but unfortunately I was surprised to see them not included. Is there any way that I could apply for a free pair after the purchase of my iPad Air only just yesterday. Thanks.
