I used to have installed iTunes for Windows (app from Windows Store) but every time I asked for album artworks updates I didn't get anything. I thought that it could be an app issue. So I uninstalled it and I installed iTunes (64-bit version) for Windows. The issue remains! What's wrong? Any idea?

You need to be signed into an Apple ID and under Edit > Preferences > Store have the option Share details about your library with Apple enabled. iTunes may still be unable to obtain artwork for some albums. It may fail when details don't match exactly, or where there is more than one potential album it could match with.
