Apple Music lossles format on Apple TV (gen 3) with AirPlay

Hi,

I am trying to find an answer to a question on the internet regarding to Apple Music Lossles format. I transfer my music from iPhone to Apple TV gen 3 via AirPlay. I know my Apple TV can play 16bit / 48khz quality sound. I have lossles ser in the music settings on my iPhone, but not hifi lossles. When I play music in this way (to Apple TV with airplay), the lossles icon and information (photo) are displayed in the Apple Music application. So do I actually listen music in this lossles quality (16bit/44khz, ALAC) or is it really still the old 256 kbps AAC?

Thanks for posting your enquiry in the Apple Support Communities! We'd be glad to see how we can help. We understand that you're attempting to listen to lossless audio by streaming your music to your Apple TV via AirPlay. According to About lossless audio in Apple Music, lossless audio is only supported on Apple TV 4K models. It also seems that in every device requirement there needs to be a wired connection. Bluetooth or any type of wireless connection isn't supported.

Thanks, but Im think you talking about Hi-RES Lossles which is working only in wired connection. My question is about lossles option in Apple Music.

Hello mateolo2,

Thanks for getting back to us. You'll want to review the article that we provided previously again. The article is referring to lossless in Apple Music. The requirements for a wired connection are referring to both Lossless and Hi-Res Lossless. You may also want to note that while the 4K model is the only supported Apple TV, it doesn't support Hi-Res Lossless.

If you've been listening to lossless audio wirelessly, it'll only play back normally as stated here:

"Can I listen to lossless audio over Bluetooth?

We will deliver music using lossless audio compression to your iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple TV. Lossless will play back normally on Bluetooth speakers and headphones. However, Bluetooth connections don’t support lossless audio."
