Infinity button not working

Does the infinity button work for "Apple Music" subscribers on Macbook Pro? Or does it also work when playing music from my personal (ripped) library?

The infinity button is visible on the right panel, right above the songs that are queued to play, but when I click it, it doesn't respond in any way (light up to indicate that it's active, or change the track order of the songs that are queued to play.

Hi destiny241,

Yes. If I click on the icon in the right hand corner, a panel on the right appears with a list of the songs that are queued to play (and a button to switch between te list of queued songs and 'history') Right bellow these two buttons ('play next' and 'history') is the infinity button. When I click it, it only turns white for a second, but it doesn't do anything. The list of queued songs is not altered. Nor does it add songs when the 'play next' list is completely empty.

I tried relaunching the app with the shift key, but it doesn't change anything. :/

Hello Carlvb,

I believe we're on the same page here. You're referring to the following, correct: Use the Playing Next queue in Music on Mac

In that resource it states, "When you turn off Autoplay on a device that uses your Apple ID—your iPhone, for example—Autoplay is turned off on all other devices that use the same Apple ID."

Which might be what's happening here. Do you have any other Apple devices that are set to not auto-play the content? If so, does it help to change that auto-play setting on that device and then attempt to use it on the Mac?

It might help to test this further on another Wi-Fi network. Does it persist no matter the network connected? Are you using any VPNs or anti-virus software? If so, try to disable these, reboot the Mac, then test it out.

Hoping this helps out, take care!

Hello Carlvb,

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities. Based on your post, you can't activate the 'infinity button' in the Music app on your MacBook Pro.

To make sure we're on the same page, this is the button on the very top right side of the Music app. When you click it, this should show the 'Play Next' and 'History' of the songs queued or been played, correct?

If so, this button does work for us as Apple Music subscribers and should show you both the Play Next and History of played music. If its not showing up properly for you, we'd recommend to quit the Music app by going to the Music menu > Quit Music.

Relaunch the app while holding down the Shift key on your keyboard. This should remove the app's saved state. Then test it out.

Please reply back if it persists and let us know if we're on the same page for more help.

Wishing you the best, take care!
