update printer driver
I have a Mac OS and my HP 4500 Office Jet is not installing with my Mac. I have updated software. Any other areas I can address?

First of all, you may want to reset the printing system and re-add the printer.

If necessary, you could perhaps try the Dec 11, 2020 https://support.apple.com/kb/DL1888?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US download from Apple. Drivers for HP Officejet 4500 versions are mentioned in Printer and scanner drivers for Mac - Apple Support.
One cannot rule out software conflicts when testing drivers, so make sure that you have multiple backup copies (on separate media) of all important files (documents, photos, et cetera).
