Switching from iTunes Match to Apple Music

I've canceled my iTunes Match because I am using the Apple One subscription. Since it includes Apple Music which from my understanding it offers the same syncing/matching feature. After I had to do a restore on my phone I noticed that I lost access to music that was uploaded from my library on my iMac.

Was I incorrect in thinking that the syncing/matching feature on Apple Music isn't the same as with iTunes Match? Do songs not found on iTunes/Apple Music get uploaded for me to use on my other devices?

I still have the songs on my iMac, but since I'm syncing with Apple Music I cannot get them over to my iPhone. So it sounds like I still need iTunes Match with Apple Music if I want to have access to music Apple doesn't have.

Turn on Sync Library with Apple Music

If songs are missing from your music library after you turn on Sync Library

Both services sync to iCloud which means that both iTunes Match and Apple Music use the same iCloud music library. We recommend download and back up your music as a precautionary measure .

That is the primary issue, the songs are no longer available on Apple Match; they are songs ripped from my CDs years ago and those songs were uploaded with iTunes Match but it seems that Apple Match doesn't do that - it only matches songs that it has in its library.

Karstengp,

Do you still have the songs on your device?

After syncing if the songs are no longer in the library abd not avalible on Apple Music then there is no way of getting them back. It could be due to region restrictions or the artist may have removed it from Apple Music.

But what happens with the songs that are not available in Apple Music, those files don't seem to be uploaded or were pulled when my iTunes Match was canceled. I thought they would have stayed since I am using Apple One subscription.
