Cant turn Bluetooth off even though no bluetooth devices.
Hey guys, I ran into this and found no other questions at all about it. Here is what happened. I own a M1 Mac mini with no Bluetooth devices whatsoever. I have a wired keyboard and a run-of-the-mill, basic USB wireless mouse. Not the Bluetooth version. Simply USB dongled wireless mouse.
I went to disable my Bluetooth under "Bluetooth preferences." The OS absolutely refused and gave this error message.
If you turn Bluetooth off you will not be able to use your Bluetooth devices.
For example, you won’t be able to use a Bluetooth keyboard or mouse. Are you sure you want to turn Bluetooth off?
After tossing this error, it just would not accept any orders to disable the BT.
So how do you get around this if you do not in fact use Bluetooth input devices.
Here is what seems to be going on. The OS misidentifies the old fashion USB-wifi-dongles used by basic wireless keyboards/mice as Bluetooth, refusing to disable the transmitter.
Here is the answer. Unplug the Wireless USB mouse/keyboard dongle, plug in a basic wired mouse, turn off the Bluetooth using that. Unplug the wired mouse and re-plug in your wireless keyboard/mouse dongle. Having the Bluetooth disabled will not affect the wireless mice or keyboards. They work fine.
I have to say this because someone isn't going to really read this.
Do Not Do This If You Use Bluetooth Keyboards Or Mice. This is strictly for those who do not use Bluetooth devices but can't turn off the Bluetooth transmitter in their Mac because the Mac wrongly identifies the USB dongle for older wireless keyboard/mice as BT.
I looked everywhere for the answer to this issue, And found nothing at all. So I'm giving it as a courtesy.
