Hi, in Settings > Apple ID > Payment & Shipping, I select my payment method and select "Remove Payment Method," but this produces a dialog box that says:
Unable to Remove
There is an active subscription on this account that requires at least one payment on file.
There is an active subscription, but it's been payed every month for a number of months, satisfying the "one payment on file" requirement. So how can I proceed?

- If you are updating an old card and have ongoing subscriptions you may need to first add the new card and make it the primary payment method before deleting the old card.

The one payment refers to a credit card or other valid payment method always being present on the account, not that the subscription has been paid for once.
e.g.
If you can’t download or update apps on your iPhone or iPad - https://support.apple.com/HT207165
- "You might need to have a payment method on file, even if the app that you want to download is free."
Thank you for the insight, but how do I replace that card with another one?
Adding a new payment method worked. With that done, it let me delete the old payment method without any "back talk."
