Apple Fitness+

Before I waste my money buying a Lightning to HDMI adapter, has anyone had any luck using the adapter to display Apple Fitness+ workouts on your TV? I am enjoying the workouts, but not willing to spend the money for Apple TV and it is hard to follow the workouts on my smaller phone screen.

I plan to cancel Fitness+ if I can’t find an easy solution to display the workouts on my TV. Already tried screen mirroring, which did not work. My iPad is also apparently a model year too old to support the Fitness app, so I’m now stuck.
