delay in upload window reflecting file changes

I'm finding there are significant delays in changes to files being reflected in the upload window when wanting to upload files to websites.

Generally it's when I have changed the name of a .jpg file, or created a new folder for a group of files, or shifted files from one folder to another. The changes are reflected immediately in the finder window, but not in the upload window. When the upload window opens, it displays the previous status of things, and I have to wait an unreasonable amount of time for it to get its act together and show the current status.

As I spend a considerable amount of my working day editing stuff on the Mac and uploading it to the net, this is wasting heaps of my valuable time.
