Carrier Settings Update

At first it was happening several times daily that I was receiving carrier settings update on my iPhone 11, but now it is also occurring on my iPhone 6s. I have never experienced this popup in the past and I have owned iPhones since late 2015. Is this about 5G? Of course since I don't have an iPhone 12, 5G isn't an option for me. Also everytime I plug my iPhone into my iMac to back it up, I always get a carrier settings update. If I charge or backup my phone several times in a day on the iMac, I always get a carrier settings update for that phone. It's very unusual.

IdrisSeabright, thank you for your suggestion. We have actually tried that a few times. It has not stopped the very frequent popups to update carrier settings. Two iPhones. Two Carriers who are unrelated to each other. So if it is a carrier issue, it's happening to multiple carriers. T-Mobile and QLink.

Actually, a simple Google search reveals that QLink is a MVNO (Mobile Virtual Network Operator), who happens to use the T-Mobile network to deliver cellular service. So you are not facing an issue with two service providers. You are facing an issue with two providers who provide service on the very same cellular network.

If you haven't updated you cellular settings as Lawrence asked, do so, but if you have and this continues, you need to contact T-Mobile for guidance.

And no, on AT&T I don't think I've ever actually gotten a popup telling I need to update my Carrier Settings.

lobsterghost1, I did contact T-Mobile to confirm I had the most up to date carrier version on my iPhone. They confirmed my version was the most up to date version. They could not explain the frequent popups to 'UPDATE CARRIER SETTINGS'. When I asked them about the QLink phone, because that number is not registered in their system, they would not offer suggestions or help with that phone. Because the QLink phone (iPhone 11) cannot access data when I am away from my home's wi-fi, they cannot be using the same T-Mobile towers that my T-Mobile iPhone (6s) is using that can always access data when away from wi-fi.

Thank you Limnos for your response to my question. I appreciate that you took the time to respond to my unclear question. Maybe I was not clear about what my actual question was. My question is "Does anyone else experience frequent popups about updating carrier settings daily?" I am aware of how to update my settings. It's just that in 6 years of owning an IOS device, these last few months are the first that I have had frequent popups daily that are requiring me to update my carrier settings. I think it's unusual and I am wondering if other IOS users are also experiencing these daily popups?

Lobsterghost1 - you might think that is true, except that my T-Mobile phone has the ability to use data, but my QLink phone has no access to data. If they were both using the same towers, then how do you explain that problem? QLink sends me emails weekly reminding me that I have unlimited data on my plan, but the reality is I only have unlimited data on the T-Mobile phone and ZERO data on the QLink phone even though my plan is supposed to have unlimited data.

Okey Doke. I'm going to depart this discussion. You seem fixated on this being an iPhone issue. It's not. Especially since it's happening on two different phones which are served by the same mobile carrier (whether you have data with Qlink or not). And Lawrence is right. Your QLink phone isn't provisioned correctly.

There's nothing more I can offer. The issue HAS to be with something dealing with T-Mobile. And as usual, carriers are notoriously good at saying there is nothing wrong on their end and passing the blame.

We are confident that the data issue is a QLink issue. They refuse to send the problem up the chain to their engineers. They blame my iPhone settings. According to Apple there is nothing wrong with my 11's settings. T-Mobile won't get involved because their system does not recognize the QLink phone number. No one can explain that now the update carrier settings popup is occurring on both phones. Thanks for your time.
