I cannot force quit Finder because Finder continues to relaunch when I force quit.

Each time I attempt to shutdown or restart my macOS Catalina, version 10.15.7, Finder will not let me. There are no apps running. Each time I force quit Finder, the only option I have is relaunch, then I get a window that asks Do you want to force Finder to relaunch. The only options I have is to Cancel or Relaunch; and this takes me into a loop.

Never being able to kill Finder!

I've had Norton for MAC installed since day one, no disk cleaners, optimizers, etc. Until recently when I click the apple

While you may have been using Norton for years without issues it does not mean Norton will never cause you a problem. A recent macOS update or a recent Norton update (or maybe some other app update) may have caused an issue where Norton is no longer functioning properly on your Mac. Anti-virus apps are notorious for causing problems with any OS. These forums are filled with posts of users whose Macs have started working normally once they uninstalled the anti-virus software, cleaning apps, and third party security software. So uninstall Norton by following Norton's instructions for uninstalling their software. At the very least this is a necessary first step no matter what you may think about Norton.

It's me again, with the same problem. I cannot shutdown/restart my MAC without Finder running something in the background. I've purchased FAF and removed all files relating to Norton. And to tell you the truth, I'm a little nervous about putting my MAC in safe mode. Everything was working fine for about two weeks; I could log off without the Finder error. Please advise

Are there any AntiVirus, Disk Cleaner, Optimizers, Defrag, VPNs etc installed which should be removed as per Developers Instructions. They are useless, unneeded, cause havoc and interfere with the normal operation of the OS and may even Corrupt the OS requiring a Reinstallation.

Have seen some people running AV Software that interferes with the Normal Shutdown process. They had to Log Out of computer, then Shutdown computer.
