Middle Earth Extended Editions play options

Having recently bought an Apple TV 4K unit, I see that the ‘Middle Earth Extended Editions 6-Film Collection’ is available to buy as well as the standard theatrical versions.

I was wondering if there was a similar option that can be found in many ‘extended’ versions of movies on Blu-ray disk, where you can be presented with an option to play either the extended or theatrical version. Does the extended version within Apple TV offer the choice at point of playback?

an option to play either the extended or theatrical version

That is not mandatory for offered extended edition movie titles. Some titles may offer that, and others won’t. If it is offered, then it would be part of iTunes Extras. The iTunes Extras for these titles do not detail what all those extras are.

As owner of the Blu-ray EE set, I decided not to get the iTunes version, so I can’t check personally.
