QUICK LOOK fit to window

It used to be in previous versions of OSX that if you opened an image using the Finder Quick Look, and resized the QL window, the image would always stretch appropriately using the "fit-to-window" rule. Thenceforth, you could continue to open images using the arrow keys, and each image would fit itself to the resized window. This was a great feature!

But starting a few releases ago, this stopped working. Now, when you resize the QL window, the current image stretches to fit, but subsequent images displayed using the arrow keys in the same window whose actual size is smaller than the window are displayed at actual size not stretched to fit the larger window.

Is there an option or preference somewhere to restore the old behavior? It's most disappointing not to have it anymore.

BTW, if you resize the window, the actual size image will immediately stretch to fit, but the beauty of the old behavior was that you could move from image to image quickly and get the same fit for all of them.

Yes, that's what I said. Is there an option to make it work the old way?

When resizing a Quick Look image, press the shift key when dragging the window to have the image automatically resize to the current Quick Look window dimensions. On Big Sur, images of different sizes and orientations are not going to automatically expand to fill the Quick Look window when using the arrow keys to step through a multi-image selection — unless the image is larger than the current Quick Look viewport.
