iPhone 12 and 2021 Honda Accord Wireless charging

I just bought a 2021 Honda Accord with wireless charging. but when I place my iPhone 12 on it, it initially shows charging for about 20 seconds and stops charging. I’ve seen this topic in other forums which reported that the problem is with the 12 itself. Others in the forum reported no problem with other iPhones that were capable of wireless charging and Android phones also worked. I tested this theory and dug out my old IPhone XR and indeed it charged on the pad. My iOS on the 12 is updated with 14.6. I power cycled the phone as some suggested, but that did not work either. Are there any work arounds for this issue?

I’ve found that my phone will charge if I have the bottom of the phone (microphone end) facing away from me and the top towards me. Basically the opposite of how any rational human would place it on the charger

So the problem is caused by the magnet that Apple put in the iPhone 12 for wireless charging. The wireless charger in the car senses the magnet, thinks there’s a foreign object on the pad, and turns off the charge. While the problem is caused by Apple, it can be fixed by the car manufacturers. I lease a Volvo XC90 and had the same issue. In lieu of Apple making a change, Volvo released a software update this summer and it now charges without any issues.

Of course I just bought a 2021 Honda Pilot and I’m back to having the issue again. Hopefully Honda follows Volvo’s lead and releases a system update to fix this.
