iPhone 12 and 2021 Honda Accord Wireless charging

I just bought a 2021 Honda Accord with wireless charging. but when I place my iPhone 12 on it, it initially shows charging for about 20 seconds and stops charging. I’ve seen this topic in other forums which reported that the problem is with the 12 itself. Others in the forum reported no problem with other iPhones that were capable of wireless charging and Android phones also worked. I tested this theory and dug out my old IPhone XR and indeed it charged on the pad. My iOS on the 12 is updated with 14.6. I power cycled the phone as some suggested, but that did not work either. Are there any work arounds for this issue?

I can confirm that the built in charging pad does not work with the iPhone 12 Pro as well (2022 civic touring + IPhone 12 Pro). Purchased yesterday. My phone with or without the MagSafe case not charge after the first 15-30 seconds on the civic’s built in charging mat. I called the dealership, they were of course unaware of the issue. I’m somewhat taken aback that apple and honda did not foresee this issue in a care with wireless apple play built in… i mean, did nobody set the new phones down on the charging pad during development? There’s misses and then there are failures. This is a failure.
