M1 SSD issues even after upgrading to Big Sur 11.4

I’ve bought my M1 MacBook Air in mid April and by June it was reporting 80Tb written to the SSD.

I updated to 11.4 the day it came out, but nothing changed. The MacBook still freezes and crashes from time to time and now the SSD has apparently written 113Tb. In three months. This is insane.

I’m getting nowhere with Apple Support and my machine is unusable. The only solution provided was to do a clean install, but the SSD keeps failing during install and I can’t even create a user now.

When will this be addressed by Apple? How can I get help?

"No luck so far. The authorized service provider spent a week with my computer and did not perform any of the promised tests, nor a clean install.: Phone support insists there is nothing wrong with this SSD use and directed me to reinstall Big Sur once again. I can’t seem to get past it with them, even when I show the Macbook doesn’t finish the clean install or the recovery from time machine "

See if your Hard drive is Failing:

If so, then it is time for a new hard drive.

What to Try:

  1. Boot: into Recovery Mode (Hold Down: [command + R] upon boot)
  2. Select: Disk Utility
  3. Select: the Drive
  4. Click: First Aid button

Perhaps this is a Faulty Device?:

So, contacting Apple Support, they are not willing to take this in for service? Note that you have a one-year, out-of-the-box, limited-warranty. So, if it is faulty, then it's interesting that Apple will not cover it. So, contact then back, asking them if this is a faulty device.

Screenshare with Apple:

When contacting Apple Support, show them what is occurring by screensharing your iPhone's iSight Camera to show them firsthand what is occurring. Go Here: Screenshare your iPhone with the Camera App Enabled to Easily Converse Over-the-Phone with Apple Support - User Tip
