The Trade-in process from Apple On-Line Purchase I am familiar with. So can only speak to that aspect.
During the Purchase on-line an option to Trade-in is available. There it will present to fill out the details of existing computer including year,, model, RAM, SSD size and Serial Number. Then, present value to be offered. Proceed to purchase of new machine. It will send the necessary packaging to return the older computer and ship the packaging to the Physical Address Associated with your Apple ID with Apple. Then ship the new computer also to Physical Address Associated with your Apple ID.
As to your specific situation - do not really know the answer. Perhaps if one telephones the Singapore Store that could offer addition information
Not private sales.. I'm in Malaysia and apple has no store here so if I plan to trade in, how can I do it? I need to go to Singapore to trade in and get a new macbook there?
