Losing Sound From Apple TV 4K

Just installed Samsung 4K TV, Bose Soundbar (optical) and Apple TV 4K (using 4K HDMI) in new home. While watching streaming apps on ATV4K the sound cuts out for 3-4 minutes and then comes back. It's more prevalent on Peacock app, but happens with all of them. This is happening on another system (exact same set up) on the patio as well. Any thoughts on how to fix this?

I am experiencing the same issue which everyone else has described. AppleTV 4K attached to 2021 Samsung Q80 with Samsung Sound Bar and sound drops out when viewing.

I contacted Apple Support today and they informed me that this is a known issue and Apple Engineers are working on the problem and it will be rectified in a future software update.

The temporary workaround (as has been suggested earlier) is to Change Audio Format to Digital 5.1 on the AppleTV 4K.

I tried this solution, and my sound drop out issues have been resolved. I guess it is just a matter of waiting for the fix to be implemented.

This is ridiculous for such an expensive set up. I have the 2021 Samsung QN90A and the Sonos sound bar running on optical (waiting for the new arc in January), and I have to keep backing out of video content over and over just to get sound.

Apple, can you please work with Samsung to get this working?? We need you two to talk to each other to resolve this issue.

This is not a “user” issue. This is an Apple issue. It’s not the cables.. it’s not a setting.. it’s either **** hardware or **** software from Apple. We’ve all been bamboozled. I’m about 1 day away from getting rid of about 15 different apple devices and starting over with a different brand. We get locked in to this Apple environment and when something doesn’t work right it screws up the whole system. Apple should stop focusing on making Tv shows and focus on making their device work properly so you can even watch the shows

I’ll have to try the nitrate but what’s the point of having an auto format feature that has a hard time knowing which format to switch to?

$180 we spend on a streaming device that Google and Roku make for $50, we pay for the service. Hope they actually read their own forums and stop gouging everyone to either buy a new item or fix it for the same price as the new item.

Thank you again! I’ll change the bit rate see what happens.

If Apple doesn't notice this problem and responds all this talk is pretty worthless. Hopefully with as many posts someone from the mothership is paying attention. Between this sound problem and the out of sync between audio and video I'm pretty much done with this device. I replaced it with my old roku which has another host of problems. I think fire stick is my next try I have a free Chromecast that loses network connectivity regularly and I have to reboot it. All these devices are garbage.

My sound cuts out occasionally too. My AVR supports Dolby ATMOS, so changing the audio to stereo kind of defeats the purpose of ATMOS support on the Apple 4K TV. For reference, other devices work without sound cutting out through the same cables and equipment using ATMOS.

I have other issues with the Apple device too, I think they need more work on their software.

Yeah, Ive tried a couple known good ATMOS/Dolby Vision cables. All 4K certified. I have issues with the Apple and the HDMI handshake to support Dolby Vision also. I only get 4K UHD. Again, all ports, cables, devices known good and working with other devices. The Apple product is the only device having these issues. The handshake problem is between the TV and the Apple product, not the AVR as I have plugged the Apple into the TV directly.
