Carplay no sound after a call

Since the latest update, (IOS 14.6) my apple car play has a glitch that shows up reliably after I've been on a call and the other end of the call closes the connection. The carplay will resume the last playing audio, but with zero sound. To restore sound, you can go to the airplay icon on the phone and select "speaker" and then re-select "CarPlay" and this will re-initialize the sound on the carplay. This works when the carplay is on a wireless connection. When on a wired connection, there is no "speaker" option under the airplay menu and you have to close out the app you were using (music or podcasts etc) and then re-open the app to get sound. You can also unplug the usb from the stereo and plug it back in to reinitialize the sound. The other solution is to always be the one who hangs up the phone. The sound will resume if you are the one to click end. This is a reliable glitch. I'm hoping that the next update fixes this bug, but in case it doesn't there is at least a workaround however annoying it is.

Hi Rob Orselino,

Thanks for reaching out using Apple Support Communities. Here to help.

We understand you've been experiencing disconnects from CarPlay after a phone call ends.We have a few troubleshooting suggestions that may assist.

First, make sure your vehicle is on this list of supported models for CarPlay. If not, let us know which vehicle you have.

CarPlay - Supported Models

You mentioned your iPhone is on the current version of iOS. Be sure to complete any new updates as they come in. Are you using a case or any charging devices that may be impacting the wired connection?

Next, for testing purposes, unpair the stereo and iPhone pairing. You can forget the car stereo from iPhone Settings > General > CarPlay. You may need to take similar steps in your vehicle to have the stereo forget the iPhone.

Prior to connecting again, also Reset Network Settings on the iPhone. This will reset saved Wi-Fi network profiles and will require you to reenter your Wi-Fi password(s).

Consider using a different Apple approved Lightning cable when directly connecting again, specifically a shorter cable if available.

Let us know if the issue persists after taking these steps! If not resolved, this would be a good case to bring directly to Apple Support.
