Hi, I haven't been able to get into my old ipod touch (5th generation). Would I be able to bring it to an apple store to retrieve photos? It's the only camera that has photos of my dog as a puppy. I'm not worried about anything else, just the photos.

Probably not. The only way to get into the iPod if you do not know the passcode or the iPod is disabled is to completely erase it.

However, if you made a back up of the iPod, you can then restore the previous contents. See: If you forgot the passcode on your iPod touch, or your iPod touch is disabled - https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT211080
