A duplicate file name was specified

I am running windows 10 pro, 64-bit, and iTunes version 12.11.3.17

Every time I open iTunes, I get the following notice:

A duplicate file name was specified

I can’t sign into my account in iTunes on my computer either.

I get:

This action could not be completed. Please try again.

Signing into my apple account in the web browser is no

problem.

I have an iPod touch 7th gen, because of this problem

I can’t sync my music, authorize or deauthorize devices or sign into the store.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes and I have also reset

my password.

I have been trying to solve this for days, but nothing I do

fixes this.

iPod, iOS 14

Hey riatoms,

It sounds like you're having an issue with iTunes on your PC. We can understand wanting to get that resolved. We want to help.

We see you've already tried uninstalling iTunes. We'd recommend following the steps in this article to uninstall iTunes as well as its related components to see if that changes anything: Remove and reinstall iTunes and related software components for Windows 7 and later

If that doesn't help, contact Apple Support here: Get Support

Thanks!

Hello,

I followed all instructions and uninstalled iTunes and reinstalled it from the Microsoft store.

The “A duplicate file name was specified” error has gone now, but unfortunately, I have a new one. When I open iTunes, it says:

You do not have enough access privileges for this operation

Opening it up as an administrator doesn’t make any difference.

Also, I still can’t sign into my Apple account or the store in iTunes. It's saying:

This action could not be completed. Please try again.

Thanks for trying to help
