I have a firewall at home and have blocked all connections to particular countries. In my logs, I am seeing my iPhone trying to connect to the following IP address and would like to try and understand why?
IP address is114.67.72.133
Doing a little detective work:
Putting these two together, it seems that the problem isn’t originating from your iPhone, but from some home automation product or products you have on your network.
Its was purchased in Canada and only ever used in Canada. If it was an app I would think the connection to that IP address would be when the app was in use but there are a huge number of connection attempts.
Hmmm unless it has background app refresh it should only be attempting to connect if the app is open correct? This seems like a lot of traffic for a point in time where I’m working and not even using my phone.
Wish there was some way to find out if if was legitimate or not. Does Apple monitor these posts?

justsomebrown hit the nail on the head. You have an untrustworthy security camera on your network. It has nothing to do with your iPhone.
Hi Lawrence. Can you tell me what makes you think this? Unless there was some way for an IP camera to spoof its IP address to the same address that my iPhone has on my local network and then show as traffic coming from my iPhone on an enterprise-grade firewall I don't believe this to be the case.
Yup I verified and the IP address is the one my phone is using. I have also reached out to Wyze (I have a number of their products) to see if their iPhone app connects to services in China. I'll let you know if I find out more.

There is no way to know why. Probably some app wants to access resources at that IP address, which is owned by China Telecom Shanghai. Was the phone originally intended for sale in China?
Who did you buy it from? What is the model number (Settings/General/About - Model Number)?
Bought it from Telus brand new about a year and a half ago.
Model is an iPhone 11.

Ok, it’s not a model intended for sale in China, that’s a Canadian phone. My best guess is that you have an app that is from a Chinese developer.
No, Apple technicians and engineers do not monitor these posts.
Likely a camera security system.
Did you check the IP address of your phone, as I suggested?
Do you have an app to view your security camera?
