Reset Apple Mail fonts in Big Sur

Hi, I was messing around with message fonts and accidentally changed the message list font (its not Helevtica 12, I tried). How do I reset this font back to its default? A Google search reveals finding a file called 'com.apple.mail.plist' and deleting/changing it, but this file is not available in Big Sur. Any help would be appreciated!

Howdy,

With Big Sur I find the com.apple.mail.plist file in my user Library folder at

~/Library/Containers/Mail/Data/Library/Preferences/com.apple.mail.plist

It helps to drag your Library folder to the Finder Window Sidebar so you can get to it easier anytime.

I also use Find Any File to help find stuff I can't find otherwise.

I do see a property in com.apple.mail.plist for MessageListFont, so that may be the issue. Quit Mail, pull that file to the Desktop (so you can put it back if needed), relaunch Mail and test.

Hi! Once I found the file, I had to follow instructions in this article and revert it back to its default state. Simply removing the file from its original location messes up the accounts config.

Not for the uninitiated though! This definitely helped, thank you!

Edit: I meant to select your answer as the one that solved this issue but ended up selecting my own answer! :/
