Light Conditions May be Getting in the Way:

  1. Go Here: Set up and use Magic Keyboard for iPad - Apple Support
  2. Scroll to: Adjust trackpad settings and keyboard brightness
  3. As it Reads: "the brightness of the Magic Keyboard automatically adjusts based on the light conditions around you."

Perhaps this is a Faulty Device?:

If this is unfixable, on your part, then perhaps this is a faulty device? You have 14 days to return it. So, if it has been 14 days or less, then return it. If it has been more than 14 days, then have it serviced or replaced. You have a one-year, out-of-the-box, limited warranty on this. So, contact Apple Support, seeing if they will return it or service this free of charge.

Why the Wait:

Phone calls are taking a bit to go through at the moment, due to lots of calls. With the Coronavirus Pandemic, many are at home at the moment, with much time on their hands to contact Apple. So, just stay on the line, and you will get through :)

Hi when I attach my iPad Pro 11 inch 2020 15.6 version the backlight on the magic keyboard come on for less than half a second and thats all I’m getting. Another user had the same issues and suggested attaching and detaching several times until the lights stayed on but even this isn’t working for me. I don’t get the keyboard

hardware option showing either.
