Apple ended creating new .mac user email addresses several years ago. One cannot just decide to make a .mac email address as Apple owns and manages the existing .mac domain for legitimate, legacy .mac account users.

Use email aliases

Email aliases are like nicknames for your real email address; they mask your real address and help keep it private. When you send messages using an alias, your recipients see the alias instead of your real email address. For example, Kevin Angel could send messages from the alias webmaster@example.org, instead of kevin_angel12@icloud.com.

Create or change an alias

  1. Choose Mail > Preferences, then click Accounts.
  2. Select an account, then click Account Information.
  3. Click the Email Address pop-up menu, choose Edit Email Addresses, then do one of the following:
    • Add an alias: Click the Add button , then enter a name and email address.
    • Edit an alias: Click the Full Name or Email Address field, then change the name or email address.
    • Remove an alias: Select an alias, then click the Remove button .

Send a message from an alias

  • In a new message, move the pointer over the From field, click the pop-up menu that appears, then choose an email alias.
