Blurry font on Dell 27" S2721DS QHD external display
I have a Dell 27" S2721DS QHD external display connected to a 2020 13 MacBook Pro (Intel) via HDMI to USB-C hub. The resolution is set at 2560x1440 60Hz. I'm currently running macOS 11.4 (Big Sur).
The font is fuzzy, blurry, since I am a programmer, it is very difficult to use most applications due to this problem, this is disaster for me.
I've tried all of the following settings with reboots in between and they did not solve the problem:
defaults write -g CGFontRenderingFontSmoothingDisabled -bool FALSE
defaults -currentHost write -globalDomain AppleFontSmoothing -int 3 (also 0, 1 and 2)
I also tried adding an edid override file using the instructions found here - https://www.chanhvuong.com/4403/fix-blurry-text-on-mac-using-external-non-apple-monitor/
I have tried SwitchResX application, tried to use some HiDPI resolutions, in some combinations it's slightly better, but not enough.
I have tried this display via same HDMI cable on my Windows PC, it works great, without any problems.
Do we have solution for this?
Is it smart to try with Mini Display port to USB-C adapter?
If I buy 27 inch display with 3840x2160 pixel, should it work? Can I scale to 2560x1440 on this display?
